7) Describe the difference between Acllimatization and Adaptation. What are the limits to these two processes?. Describe how these will help specific species (provide examples) while facing climate change effects
ADAPTATION
Biotic changes that takes place in a population during a period of several generations inducing genotypic and phenotypic changes as consequence of a natural selection.i e: an adaptation to living regions with cold weather is the acquisition of heavy fur insulation. This process becomes established only after many generations of natural selection without no apparent preparation time
ACCLIMATIZATION
Sum of adjustments that followed repeated and prolonged exposure to a particular stimulus.Once the stimulus is removed,a new physiological adjustment is expected to occur. So this mechanism is temporary and requires a development period during exposure
i e:
if a group of animals are exposed to increasingly cold weather conditions during a period of 6 weeks, these organisms will increase their ability to survive at cold temperature :
Increasing cold resistance, increasing food consumption, increasing basal metabolic rate and reducing shivering
So, both conditions can be related one each other if we consider that the ability of a population to acclimate could be a form of adaptation
In face to climate changes it seems that ,nowadays ,several species are showing changes in their behavior as a response to acclimatization
ie: it was seen changes in timing of life cycle events ( migration or reproduction) in those species with a relatively short life span (3 years)
Other examples of actual evolution signs in response to climate change
- There was detected a shift in proportion of european larger banded snails with light colored shells. This trait is genetic.
It was seen that in a given environment, those light colored shell-snails showed a decrease in their body temperature as those dark colored shells., becoming more prevalent overtime in Netherlands
- Wild Thyme in France evolved to several extreme cold events since 1970, producing more pungent oil to deter hervibors
7) Describe the difference between Acllimatization and Adaptation. What are the limits to these two processes?....
Understanding biological sensitivities to climate change from species traits is useful for prioritising adaptation strategies because: They are broad spectrum indicators that incorporate interactions with each other and the ecosystem, providing a holistic overview of the direction of impacts They provide a rapid assessment tool to help identify areas with a high concentration of sensitive species including those of commercial and ecological significance. They are robust tools for use against anti-climate change theorists They help us to understand that climate...
In what way was the seed an important adaptation in the evolution of plants? Explain the difference between pollination and fertilization. How much time elapses between these two processes in pine? 1. 2. 3. Outline the main events of the pine life cycle. Where are the gametes produced? Where are the spores produced? What generations are independent? At what stage does dispersal occur? Make a table like the one below where you compare reproduction, dispersal, and protection of the zygote...
4. What does "scientific adaptation" mean? How is it different from the way we use the term "adaptation" in everyday language? 5. What two processes are necessary for adaptation to occur? 6. Genetic variation occurs randomly and increases the diversity of a population. Natural selection is nonrandom and decreases the diversity of a population. How do these two processes work together to produce adaptations in populations over time? 7. What are two possible outcomes of adaptations in lineages over time?...
what is the difference between poisson processes and poisson distribution? 1. Please explain the conception 2. Please give me two example, one for poisson processes and one for poisson distribution. they can be a problem 3. please explain the difference between two examples. Follow the comment please

Explain the relationship between fluid balance and electrolyte levels. Pick an electrolyte and provide an example of how a change in fluid levels will affect that electrolyte. Compare and contrast acute renal failure (ARF) with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Provide at least three similarities and three differences. Discuss at least three different types of urinary incontinence, focusing on the underlying causes and possible treatments.
Please answer all the 7 questions for me. Thank you so much for your help. 1. What are a biological species? What is speciation? Discuss the relationship between species and speciation. 2. Define a biological population. Why are populations described as dynamic? Provide three examples of properties of a population that can change over time. 3. Which is the most accurate way to determine population size? Describe two different methods for estimating population size. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of...
In your own words, describe the difference between Between-Treatments (Groups) and Within-Treatments (Groups) variation. Explain how you would evaluate the variation and other methods to ensure that the data are appropriate to use for the test. Illustrate your ideas using a specific example. In replies to peers, provide additional examples to support the ideas presented.
Describe, in your own words the difference between a change in the quantity supplied, and a change in supply. Give examples of what may cause each of these.
5. Differentiate between the processes and results of microevolution and macroevolution, and explain how these contribute to speciation. • Explain why individuals do not evolve? At what level does evolution occur? • What are gene pools? Describe microevolution. • What is macroevolution including speciation? What are novel features? 6. Relate the geologic history of the planet to evolutionary history, including mass extinctions and subsequent diversification. • What is the role of mass extinctions and diversification in macroevolution? • How does...
