How would you explain the existence of higher or lower mutating strains within a species?
The frequency of occurrence of new mutations in a gene of an organism over a period of time is known as mutation rate. The existence of different types of mutations, or for that matter different types of mutating strains within a species is due to the fact that mutation rates are not fixed/constant and there is not limitation to the type of mutation that can occur.
In a population of a species, there can be found lower mutating strains as well as higher mutating strains. Mutation rate of any organism is considered to be an evolved characteristic. They are influenced by the environment as well as the genetics of the individual. Even in the genome of a single organism, some sites accumulate more mutation than other. This is precisely the reason why some humans are more prone to cancer than others.
It should be noted that a new mutation often creates a new allele for a specific gene, thus changing the allele frequency in a given population. The new mutations are then acted upon by natural selection, because of which unfavorable mutations are often eliminated from the population, while retaining the favorable ones.
How would you explain the existence of higher or lower mutating strains within a species?
Would you expect the pH at the equivalence point to be higher, lower or the same? Explain. 3. If the weak acid titration was repeated with the same weak acid used in this experiment but 150 ml of distilled water was added to the beaker instead of 80 ml, would you expect the pH at the equivalence point to be higher, lower, or the same? Explain.
Explain the experimental evidence that suggests that two species can come to a stable co-existence.
Why does higher foliage volume result in higher warbler (bird) species diversity? Lower foliage volume provides fewer niches for keystone predators and leads to competitive exclusion Higher foliage volume allows for keystone predators to increase competitive exclusion Higher foliage volume provides more niches for coexisting species and reduces competitive exclusion Lower foliage volume increases habitat complexity which provides more niches for competing species
Consider that the zebrafish microbiome has more than just two bacterial strains within it. How do you think adding a third (or fourth, fifth, etc.) bacterial member into a competition would potentially affect the results you gathered from this experiment?
Atomic mass of magnesium Would you expect the atomic mass to be higher lower the same as the expected value if the vapor pressure of water had been ignored? Explain in a way i can understand please
If you were a borrower, would you prefer a higher or lower compounding frequency for a given nominal (stated) interest rate?
7.How would the molar mass of the unknown acid be affected (higher, lower, or no change) if the follow-ing errors occurred? Briefly explain why in each case. a.The pH meter was incorrectly calibrated to read lower than the actual pH. b.During the titration, several drops of NaOH missed the reaction beaker and fell onto the bench top. c.In Part B of the procedure the acid was dissolved in 75 mL of distilled water rather than the 50 mL called for...
Climate change is a threat to the existence of many species. Which of the following limits to natural selection hinders the adaptation of species to the new climate conditions? (5 POINTS) A: Climate change happens so fast, that there is not enough time for species to migrate to cooler areas. If they would migrate any faster natural selection could not keep up with them. B: The building plan of plants and animals is too complex. They cannot cope with the...
Would each of the following scenarios cause you to calculate a heat fusion higher or lower than the accepted answer? Explain your answer. a) the ice you add to the calorimeter has a significant amount of water on it b) the ice is initially colder than 0 degree celsius c) a significant amount of water is taken when the excess ice is removed from the calorimeter
Could someone please explain the logistic growth equation. and how you would include a second species to it. Please provide an example of it. Thanks in advance!
