why do tetrahymena have so many nuclei and what are they for? Please explain!
Tetrahymena are free living ciliated protozoans found in aquatic regions. They exhibit a unique feature called Nuclear Dimorphism. Due to this feature they are used as a model organism for molecular research. It has two nuclei with different functions.
It has a germline micronucleus and a somatic macronucleus. The micro nucleus is diploid and contains five pairs of chromosomes. It is transcriptionally silent. The micro nucleus acts as the store house of genetic information for sexual prodigy.
The macronucleus is derived from the micronucleus. The micronucleus is the vegetative germ-line during which the macronucleus is transcribed, translated and transmitted to the next asexual generation by mitosis. Macronucleus is expressed only during vegetative replication. It contains approximately 300 chromosomes which are derived from micronucleus chromosomes.
The template activity of DNA in the micronucleus is highly restricted compared to that in the macronucleus. Micronuclei synthesize and contain little RNA and do not contain either nucleoli or ribonucleoprotein granules. Macronuclei synthesize and contain large amounts of RNA and have many nucleoli and ribonucleoprotein granules. Macro and micronuclei also have distinct differences in the timing of DNA synthesis during the cell cycle and in the timing and mechanism of nuclear division. During conjugation the macronucleus becomes pycnotic and disappears while the micronucleus undergoes meiosis and fertilization, ultimately giving rise to new macro and new micronuclei.

How fast would two nuclei have to move so that in a head-on collision they would get close enough to fuse? (Treat the nuclei as point charges, and assume that a separation of 1.0 × 10-15 m is required for fusion.) Express your answer using two significant figures. Constants If two deuterium nuclei (charge +e, mass 3.34 x 10-27kg) get close enough together, the attraction of the strong nuclear force will fuse them to make an...
Why do so many companies fail to have a strategy? Why do managers avoid making strategic choices? Or, having made them in the past, why do managers so often let strategies decay and blur? Does the company you work for have a strategy? What is it? It is decaying?
1) Why have so many 500 fortune companies implemented sustainability accounting? How do they present it? What do they believe is the value in their participation? What about the companies that have not yet participated, why? 2) Draw a distinction between GRI and SASB. What are their specific goals and how do they interact? Given today's environment, do they compliment each other? What do suggest should take place to improve their performance/outcomes?
If trade is so beneficial, why do so many national governments enforce protectionist policies? What opportunity does this provide for economists? The demand for agricultural commodities are both own-price inelastic and income inelastic. What do each of these elasticities measure? How can they be used to explain variations in total revenues for farmers?

I have personally never done this. I don't understand why so many sites do, if you do your development on a development server why would you ever need to shut down your production site? I have always wondered about this. What are they doing during this time, what requires doing this?
