) In which phase of the viral "life cycle" does the host cell lyse?
A) Lysogenic phase B) Lytic phase C) osmosis D) plasmolysis E) cellular respiration
Lytic phase
There are two phases in life cycle of a virus, Lysogenic phase and lytic phase. In lysogenic phase, the virus enters the bacterial or host cell and keeps on dividing inside it but do not break down the bacterial cell membrane. In this way it remains latent inside the host cell. But in lytic phase the virus breaks down the membrane of host cell to get out of it and infect another cell.
Osmosis is the process of movement of water molecules from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration through a selectively permeable membrane.
When a cell is kept in hypertonic solution, it undergoes plasmolysis which is also known as sell shrinkage. This is because water from cell moves out into the surrounding medium.
Cellular respiration is a process which takes place in mitochondria in eukaryotes to generate ATP which is the energy currency of the cell.

which of the following regarding transposition is true Which of the following regarding Transposition is TRUE? Transpositon requires the Ffactor. Transposition is a form of horizontal DNA transfer through the cutting and relocation of genetic material from one cell to another. Transposition is a form of genetic change and amplification, Transposition requires a sex pilus. The main difference between genetic replication and transposition is genetic material is duplicated during replication and is only moved during transposition Which of the following...

M13 is a bacteriophage (a type of virus) that infects E. coli cells, and is capable of integrating into the host genome, becoming a prophage. Review Each temperate (or lysogenic) bacteriophage (e.g., lambda, 434, P22) encodes its own repressor protein. The repressor binds to six binding sites within the phage genome. These sites can also be bound by a second transcriptional repressor encoded by the phage, called Cro. The pattern of binding of repressor and Cro to these sites determines whether the phage grows lytically or lysogenicaly. Launch the molecular model of the temperate bacteriophage repressor to explore its structure. Then, answer the questions. Launch...
