QUEUEING THEORY

Simulate an M / D / 2/3 system during the first 45 minutes of operation, the average time between arrivals is 3 minutes and servers I and II use exactly 5 and 7 minutes, respectively, to serve a customer. Consider that at the beginning there are no clients in the system.

The random data for the times between arrivals, can only be generated with Excel, it is necessary to explain what was your procedure.

The following table shows the queuing process for the first 45 minutes.

The distribution function has 1/3 as its parameter. By using a random number generator in order to create values, we obtain the values in minutes and seconds as 3:54, 2:11,1:26,1:25, 0:05, 5:24, 6:09, 0:57,1:14,5:57,1:19, 2:39, 0:52, 8:54, 2:49. As when the process begins, the customer #1 enters the system at 3 minutes and 54 seconds, next customer #2 enters the system after 2 minutes 11 seconds. We have considered the successive values to be the inter arrival times of successive customers. In the above table at times 9:01 and 33:32, the system denied the entrance and service of customers #5 and #13 because the system's capacity is only 3.
