Institutional discrimination is defined as the policies and practices that are favorable to any group which is termed as dominant group and unfavorable to another group which is well embedded in the existing structure of society in the form of norms. I do think that somewhere the institutional discrimination occurs because people are purposely acting in a racially discriminatory manner and they also get the support of those who favor this practice and call it the right way of dealing with things. This creates superiority feeling in one group over the other.Affirmative action is a policy used by colleges and universities for improving the educational opportunities for minority groups (including minority races, genders, and sexual orientations) that are commonly and historically discriminated against. I feel as long is this action provides opportunities to whose who require assistance in real and improves to boost them in moral development and financially, it is fine else we should try to not create such indifferent feelings as other groups can become rebellious.
