1. How does human technology contribute to environmental chemical pollution?
Please list examples.
Answer :- The main environmental chemical pollutants are :-
The Substances that cause the most concern: , Carbon Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide, Unburned Hydrocarbons, Nitrogen Oxides, Ozone, Sulfur Dioxide, Chlorofluorocarbons and Lead and Heavy metals.
1. Carbon Dioxide - During production of electricity , a lot of fossil fuels are used which thus emitting carbon dioxide which is very harmful to our environment.
2. Carbon monoxide - Produced by incomplete combustion of plastic bottles, heating boilers, gas-stoves, gas-powered water heaters, etc these are sources of carbon monoxide.
3. Unburned hydrocarbons:- In automobile engine, when petroleum products burn then this unburned hydrocarbons emits into air and pollutes the environment.
4. Nitrogen oxides - these are produced by automobiles, cement kilns, turbines, industrial boilers, construction equipments etc
5. Ozone - Ozone gets depleting day by day because of the chloro-flouro carbons, refrigerants, Propellants, foam-blowing agents, etc.
6. Sulfur dioxide - major source of sulphur dioxide is burning of fossil fuels in the industrial units and power plants .
7. Chlorofluorocarbons - CFCs major sources are fire suppression systems of aircrafts, refrigerants, aerosols etc which directly depletes the ozone layer.

Air pollution has become very costly environmental problem in terms of both human lives and in terms of billions of dollars lost for health-care expenditure and crop damage. Contact the pollution control authorities in your community for the levels or air pollutants. Identify main air pollutants and the possible causes of air pollution. How does your community compare to others? Discuss your findings. Consider your own skills and interests. Think of at least two skills or interests that could be...

Identify any unusual environmental problems (for example: heavy metals due to mining, water pollution due to farming or industry) in your neighborhood and research possible health effects of potential environmental hazards in the area. Who is at risk, what is the environmental hazard, where does this hazard come from and what health problems caused by the pollutant? Before you get started, review the terminology. Terms: Environmental Hazard: Something (chemical, physical or microbiological) with the potential to cause harm; however, it...
