Answer #1

The DNS Internet directory service that allows devices and services to be named and discoverable, is fault-tolerant and promotes load balancing by web sites having several computers that work together to share the load for incoming requests. Assigning several computers to a host nameSo a single computer won’t be overloaded by requests, or go down if one computer fails. The DNS lets computers connected to the network know where to find a service on the network called a DNS resolver. The DNS resolver can look up host/domain name combinations to find the matching IP address using the “phone book” that is the DNS. The domain name system is a distributed, fault-tolerant system that uses name servers to map host/domain name combinations to IP addresses.

Other systems that might need to be fault-tolerant and offer load balancing are data warehouses, enterpriseresource planning systems, search engines, and geographic information system(GIS). One example is, airline engines.Fault tolerance is often needed when it comes to vital systems. These systems need to be fault-tolerantto be ableto keep operating even if some parts of the system fail. Load balancing is needed in order to avoiding (scalability) bottlenecks, achieving optimal resource utilization, avoiding overload, and minimizing response time. This is needed to allocate incoming requests to the servers
