Reason 1 . Molecular markers are specific sequences of DNA which correlate with the presence or absence of a specific trait in sex chromosomes. these markers are primarily used to increase the efficiency of progeny screening in breeding programmes.

Reason 2. There are correlation between DNA markers and segregation pattern that allow traits to be associated with specific chromosomes and chromosomes regions so that desired genomes can be mapped.

Because of above discussed two important reasons scientist may want to use a molecular marker to sex a ( non human ) organism.
