Answer #1

For an organism to be able to walk on two legs(bipedalism), the legs should be able to bear the whole weight of the torso(or the whole body) on two legs. The bone structure on the legs should overcome the stress exerted by that weight. I other words, the legs could break if they are not strong enough to support the body weight. The other method is to reduce the weight in the torso so that there's only enough weight there for the bone on legs to support. This makes the difference between chimps and humans. the torso weight is more in humans but the stronger bones take care of the heavier torso where as in chimps they walk on four legs might be due to the weaker leg bones compared to humans.

1.33 Electrons in molecules are described by wavefunctions that extend over more than one atom. Consider an electron that is described by a wavefunction that extends over two adjacent carbon atoms. The electron can move freely between the two atoms. The internuclear C-C distance is 139 pm. (a) Using the one-dimensional particle-in-the-box model, calculate the energy required to promote an electron from the n=1 to the n = 2 level, assuming that the length of the box is the same...
