By the time when a person reaches middle adulthood, he or she has been married which is a usual case but there are always exceptions, and as the marital life progresses, the adult at this age maintains less social relationships in terms of building new ones while constantly keeping and supporting his or her present relationships. As one ages, one tries to maintain and evolve in the present relationships in the hope that these people only will favor and support them in their old age and life in future. While on the other hand young adults are often observed in forming new social bonds with new people since they are already exploring and finding the long lasting friends and family while the middle aged adults have passed this phase of life and want to live a life with commitment and trust. People at this age tend to feel more responsible for their family and a feeling of compassion and maintaining spiritual bonds comes into practice. They become more compassionate, caring and supportive for their families and loved ones while also adapt some notions of making effective decision making. These decisions are meant to hold some wise dispositions which make them effective and with this they tend to become morally reasonable and value the importance of relationships. Erik Erikson also in his developmental stages described that in the last stage the people experience is Identity vs Despair stage whether they were successful in maintaining a social and unique identity or whether they are not at all happy with their life and related consequences. People who are successful at this stage often become wise and valuable in making essential decisions while others who are not able to pass the stage successfully are in constant despair and neglect.
