1. I hear people talking about how a person's personality can change throughout their life depending on the people they associate themselves with and can be changed if they change their lifestyle or the people they surround themselves with. But according to Freud's development of personality theory, person's personality is established at Stage 5, seeming almost as if it is genetic. I have no actual opinion of whether it is genetics or social, but I do believe it is a mix of both. any thoughts?

2. Many human beings focus on themselves, but because they are social beings, they balance their desires with those of other people. Traits are more of hereditary than a learning process. The child is likely to grow up like the genetic parents for personality traits is highly influenced by genes. However, the child may be partially unselfish due to the environment of the adopted parents who are selfless. More than half of a personality trait is heredity and the other less than half, is influenced by the environment and the parents. The environment partially changes somebody's characteristics. Do you feel that your actions have been shaped more by your environment, or your DNA?

3. I think that it is definitley possible for ones personality to change. Whether it be from a major life experience or through some self evaluation and the person deciding that they want to make a change in their life. However when I think of this I kind of think of psychopaths or sociopaths. I feel like it would be extremley hard for their personalities to change because they have a strong personality. How could someone go from say being a serial killer to being a very nice and well manered person? Do you think in these extreme cases it is possible for the personality to change?

4. In regards to both friendship attraction and romantic attraction, why are most of us attracted to people with similar personalities and traits as our own? Is it because we feel comfortable talking to people that are like us (social cliques)? For those that disagree that we are attracted to people with similar personalities as us, why do you think so and instead what makes us feel attracted to them?

There has been a lot of progress to understand understanding the important role of genetics in behavior. There are statistics that show that genetics may play a greater role than parental influence in personality development. We can also pinpoint to an extent specific genes that influence behavior. Many believe that genes influence destiny but I disagree.

Genetics is important, and although it may influence many personality behavior, genetics does not determine everything. In fact, one of the major influences in personality development are environmental factors, which constitute things that occur to us that make us unique individuals. These differences include upbringing, nutrition and even interactions among the genes themselves.

The genetic differences that exist at birth can sometimes be increased or decreased through environmental factors. It is worth  As a result, even genetically identical twins have distinct personalities, resulting in large part from environmental effects.

The interesting thing to note is because non-shared environmental differences are largely random,it is difficult to predict what exactly happens to a child when they grow up. We inherit genes and sometimes traits but never personalities. The impact genes have on behavior depends on the day to day events of our life.. Based on your genes, it is difficult to predict what kind of personality the human being will develop.

A single gene cannot determine personality. Many genes work and come together to influence a person's traits and behavior. Furthermore, even when they work together genes are not powerful enough to significantly control or create personality traits that they can control or create our personality. In conclusion, the complex relationship among the various genes, paired with several random factors influences the final outcome. A given pattern of genes is not a sure shot way of knowing what traits you will develop or possess.

"Opposites attract" is a phrase I have heard being used on more than one occasion. There are many individuals who believe that a personality type radically different from their own will be more interesting to get to know and live with. This stems from the inherent curiosity of human beings about that which is unknown or unfamiliar to them. This also gives both partners a chance to explore thoughts, ideas and view points that may not come very naturally to them.

The downside of dating someone very different from you is that the number of times you may have a difference of opinion may be too large for comfort. It is my personal belief that it is healthy to date someone who has a different take o life than you provided you have an agreement on your fundamental beliefs.

People change and sometimes they don't . Reform, second chances, giving someone the benefit of doubt - all these actions are based on human beings inherent belief that with time even the most damaged personalities can heal and grow.

I personally belief that who we are is determined by a random chain of consequences we have limited control over. There are a lot of incidents that influence us, make us think or teach us lessons. I believe that the human mind is extremely adaptive and interpretive.

A major life occurrence can go a long way in determining how you respond to things.
