Diversity in the workplace refers to the population of employees working in an organisation of different caste, gender, religion , race and other characteristics.
In my opinion , it is of prime significance that an organisation should comprise of employees of different attributes which eventually promotes harmony among the professionals at the workplace but also from a business point of view adds to the benefit of innovation and creativity .
Several other benefits arouse out of diversity being practiced in an organisation. Those are as follows :
A) Wider pool of talent - Every individual is different from the other and as a result each contribution made by them would itself be unique, distinguished and creative.
B) Abundance of ideas - With larger percentage of employees in an organisation, that leads to innovation, creation and implementation of plans and policies on a wider scale.
C) Greater risk management - Every individual has its own distinct approach of problem solving . With different identities and uncommon approach , an organisation is at a better place to face uneven and unforeseen circumstances due to the presence of skilled yet matchless employees.
D) Inclusion on merit - The selection procedure if based on merit and not solely based upon the realms of cultural or caste identity promotes healthier environment and the emergence of mutual respect between the employees of the organisation.
