Ethical leadership is knowing your core values and living them in all parts of your life....

Ethical leadership is knowing your core values and living them in all parts of your life. An ethical leader demonstrates character, morals, and virtue in their work, focusing on the needs of their employees. Ethical leaders are aware of how their decisions impact others. They are concerned about the common good.

A leader’s values and beliefs are how they see the world and how others should behave. It is the view through their ‘lens.’ A leader’s view is a result of their upbringing, beliefs, education, and experiences both at home and at work. In today’s organizations, leaders need to be able to influence employees to be motivated and committed to performance regardless of diverse experiences.

There are some basic responsibilities and obligations for ethical leaders, including setting a good example, holding everyone to the same standard, and making expectations clear. Ethical leadership begins with an ethical leader. An ethical leader should demonstrate appropriate and professional behavior for their team.

As leaders our values and beliefs inform moral and ethical judgments, and when to say yes and no. Leaders sometimes have to look beyond their values and beliefs to better support their employees. One of my favorite quotes from the movie Remember the Titans, “Attitude reflects leadership,” reminds us that attitude good or bad starts at the top down.

I need a discussion response to above remarks about Ethical Leadership. Please no condescending reply.

Discussion response :

The above mentioned post reflects how ethical leadership puts a positive impact on the attitude and behavior of leaders and encourages them to incorporate ethical and moral practices. It highlights how ethical leadership demostrates the character, morals and virtue of a leader which are morally driven while conducting operations. The above remarks hold the opinion that practicing ethical leadership can result in producing decisions based on moral values which aim to satisfy customers snd think of their welfare.

In my opinion I believe that the significance of ethical leadership specially in the character of a leader cannot be denied. It definitely helps a leader to take common grounds, base decisions on moral values , choose alternatives producing common good , practicing Impartiity and unbiased opinions. The leader in such a role can help the followers to thrive and come up to their expectations by prioritizing their interests over self interests. Leaders have some traits that are not commonly found and thus using such traits to demonstrate and reflect on core values of ethics and morals will help develop a progressive community.

The post further holds that, for demonstrating ethical leadership, the leader himself needs to be ethical , which in practical life is very true as, an individual cannot make others practice what they on their own cannot.

So in order to ensure that the practices and outcomes of being on the position of a leader are ethical, it is important that the leader as an individual should also conduct personal and professional routine activities in an ethical manner reflecting morality, fairness and justice.

The author is correct in saying that an ethical leader has certain responsibilities and duties towards their followers as by undertaking the title of being ethical,,, they have become the representatives of fairness, impartiality, equity, justice and moral decision making. Thus ethical leader becomes the figure whom everyone will look up to, due to which they need to be aware of how they carry themselves and what they are conveying to their followers.

In conclusion, we get that the role of ethical leadership comes with values and beliefs based on ethics and aiming at social welfare and upbringing of followers.
