A basic checklist of the actions required following a workplace accident is as follows:

( ) Call emergency services like 911 for immediate medical attention

( ) Provide first aid- This would help till the arrival of emergency services

( ) Clear the area- Sources of danger and other employees should be cleared from the area.

( ) Report the incident as per the required regulations like OSHA

( ) Carry out an investigation- The minutest details of the incident should be recorded and root causes should be identified. This would help in preventing such an incident to happen in the future.

( ) Report creation and recommendations- A detailed report of the incident should be created with recommendations to prevent them

( ) Following up for implementation of recommendations- This would ensure that recommendations are being followed religiously as well as for monitoring, and training employees and workmen.
