Golgi apparatus are membrane-bound organelles of eukaryotic cells. It is made up of a series of flat, staggered pouches called cisternae.it is located in the cytoplasm almost near to nucleus and endoplasmic reticulum. It is responsible for the modification, packaging and transporting proteins and lipids. Proteins and lipids are packaged into vesicles for transporting them to targeted destinations.

The endomembrane system is a collection of membrane organelles that work together to create, modify and export cell products like proteins and lipids. The following organelles are considered to be a part of endomembrane system-Nuclear envelop, the rough and smooth endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi apparatus, lysosomes, and vesicles. The rough endoplasmic reticulums studded with ribosomes and hence the name. The ribosomes are responsible for aiding the production of proteins and the proteins are packed into vesicles are transported to Golgi apparatus. The smooth endoplasmic reticulums deprived of ribosomes on their surface. They are responsible for the production of lipids and detoxification of harmful chemicals.thelipids are packed in vesicles and send to Golgi apparatus. Golgi apparatus is responsible for the modification, packaging and transporting proteins and lipids. Proteins and lipids are packaged into vesicles for transporting it to targeted destination; maybe to the plasma membrane or secretions from the cell. Lysosomes fuse with other vesicles and digest the contents.hormones and other molecules are packed into secretory vesicles from the Golgi apparatus and transported and it fuses with the plasma membrane to release the molecules into the external environment.

In biochemistry and molecular biology, Pulse-chase is a method for examining a cellular process occurring over time by successfully exposing the cells to a labelled (radioactive is used to commonly label) compound (pulse) and same compound in the unlabelled form (chase). The labelled compound id tracked through its movement in the cell towards various organelles and regions. the same compound which is unlabeled is exposed to the cell as chase element. this method is used to study the metabolic product movement and other trafficking in cells.
