• Identify the problem: Retrieval of any record from the main files is quite difficult. There are various complaints from physicians regarding the same.
• Understand stakeholder’s interests and requirements: The primary stakeholders are the physicians who are the primary users of the Main Files. They would require fast and accurate retrieval of data from the Main Files.
• List the probable solutions: The probable solutions can be-
  • Leaving the software as is
  • Changing the software entirely
  • Incorporating changes to the existing software so as to make fetch records easily
• Evaluate the feasibility of solutions
  • Leaving the software as is: This will not fulfill the stakeholder interests
  • Changing the software entirely: This can be quite costly and time consuming
  • Incorporating changes to the existing software so as to make fetch records easily: This solution can be integrated quite easily. The implementation will also be time effective. This will solve the issues faced by the stakeholders immediately.
• Select the best available option: In my views, incorporating changes in existing software will be most feasible option
• Implement the solution: The changes can be integrated in existing software, during its downtime.
• Monitor effectiveness: The supervisor can keep a track of the number of complaints being registered by the physicians, post integration of changes. This can be compared with the rate of complaints raised earlier. Effectiveness of the software can be evaluated quite easily through this method.
