What is the relationship between (1) the size of sediment grains carried by ocean water and (2) the energy of the water?  
(NOTE: this question is not about well-sorted versus poorly sorted sediments.)

The size of the sediment grains carried by the ocean water is a clear indicator of the energy of the water. The larger the size of the grains the more is the energy of water associated with it.

b. By mapping the grain sizes across the seafloor the oceanographers get to know about the energy of the ocean water associated with those areas.
