What do you expect to see in the largest quantities during a viral infection?

Answer: d. B-cells and T-cells

Explanation: When the body encounters infection, it can be bacterial or viral. We can tell if the infection is viral or bacterial by looking at the white blood cell differential count. In bacterial infections, the count of neutrophils is increased while lymphocytes (B-cells and T-cells) is decreased, whereas, in viral infection, the lymphocyte count is increased while the neutrophil count is decreased. Therefore in viral infection, we can expect to see large quantities of B-cells and T-cells.
