Equation of Hamilton's rule is-

rB>C

Where r = relatedness (proportion of shared genes)

B= Benefit to the recipient ( how many more offspring are produced)

C= cost of the altruist

According to Hamilton's rule, Kin selection increases the frequency of genes only when the genetic relatedness of a recipient to an actor multiplied by the benefit to the recipient always exceed the cost to the actor.
