For my biochemistry class I'm suppose to come up with a research topic for a term paper (5 pages roughly). I wanted to do a topic on Aldolase A, but my teacher said that I need to narrow the topic down quite a bit. Any ideas on a topic that I can use that is not as board and will still be easy to research?

If you will select Aldolase A, then you will have to work on every aspect of this enzyme. It would be very lengthy.

To narrow down your topic, you can select any one aspect of this enzyme. Like you can work on the -

1. Structure of aldolase A, tell its sequence (both nucleotide and amino acid), coding, non coding sequences, gene from which it is located, its homologs in other organisms, the complete structure of its polypeptide.

2. Function of aldolase A, tell where it is used, what proceeses it catalyse, the mechanism of each and every step of its catalysis, cofactors required by the enzyme, pH, temperature and other environmental conditions at which it works.

3. Metabolism of this enzyme, where and how it is synthesized and broken down.

Read a lot literature. Refer to good books, review articles and research papers. But remember that the scientific literature should be recent and published in good journals.
