A. If you were doing a study on an orange species, and a brown one popped up out of the blue. What just happened?

B. What process would have to happen for it to change its frequency?

C. You see animals of the same species living on a purple rock. Some are purple and some are pink. The pink species is rather high in frequency. Why is this unexpected and what does it mean?

A. This is because of variation. Variation means variety in the characters of a species. This happens due to mutation. It is a sudden change in the DNA.

B. Mutation and genetic recombination happen for the change in it's frequency.

C. The Rock is purple and there are two colors of the organisms one is purple and one is pink. Both the species live on the rock. In this having purple color is advantageous. So, due to natural selection they change their color from pink to purple. Purple species have an added advantage of survival. This rock is in the process of evolution. That is why there are more pink species. Due to mutation purple species are formed and now they are dividing to form more purple species as they are the fittest. After sometime all the species will be purple.
