Ans 1. a) Toula's staring towards Ian in the restaurant her staring towards Ian indicates that she is interested in Ian and Ian is very handsome. b) Ian's staring at Toula in travel agency window also hints her that she is very pretty and he is interested in her.c) Empathy is given to Toula by her mother when her father s turns down her request for computer course.

Ans 2.a)When Ian arrives at table when asked for breakfast he says no , but still Toula's mother gives him full breakfast Ian thinks in America yes is yes and no is no. b) When Toula stares at Ian in restaurant Ian's friend thinks that she is just a crazy girl. c) Toula told her family that she was doing pottery class whereas she was scretely dating Ian

Ans 3. a) Ian smiles and waves at Toula in travel agency instead of saying hi. b) Ian runs to old women after travel agency incident because he knows Toula is nervous and probably to make laugh and relax her a bit. c)

Ans 4. a) Family members move very closely to each other and hug each other even Ian's parents whereas Ian's parents are very uncomfortable in joint family. b) Greek family does many things at a time during food, whereas Ian's family concentrate on one thing at a time. c)

Ans 5.a) Toula's Greek family is big and is very proud of their traditions, whereas Ian's American family is just three of of them and not much proud of their culture as Ian gets converted into greek culture. b) There is strong power hierarchy as as Toula's father is accepted as head of the family whereas it is not the same in Ian's family. c) There is tradition where greek has to marry greek and have greek children but there was no such compulsion in Ian's family.
