In health communication, constituency relations is defined as
the process of convening , exchanging information establishing and
maintaining strategic relationships with stakeholders , communities
and organizations with the intent of identifying common goals that
can contribute to the outcome of a specific communication program
or organizational mission . Constituency relations are used in the
public health , non profit , health care and commercial sectors as
fundamental area of communication.
One of the fundamental premises of the constituency relations is
the importance of recognising the legitimacy of all constituency
groups including those that may have opposite opinions on or
approaches to a healthy issue .
Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with groups
that shard common values and goals depends on a number of factors
.
Most health and social issues are complex and multi sectoral in
their nature or potential solutions. Multisectoral partnership is a
key tool in effectively addressing such issues.
Building a constituency around a health issue or building and
