Effective communication is very important for establishment of very firm trustful relationship between healthcare provider and patient

1. Barriers in effective provider and patient communication

            LanguageBarrier

                     * If provider is unaware of patients language ,he/she is unable to gather required

                      information from the patient.

  • Generally healthcare providers use medical terminology in front of patient which patients are unable to understand, this leads to development of mistrust between the health care provider and patient.

        Cultural barriers

                  Patients who require treatment generally belong to different cultural backgrounds, These

                 Cultural differences are responsible for different beliefs system ,which negatively affect

                 effective communication.

                 

       Gender

                In some countries, patients feel more comfortable when they are getting treated by health     

                care provider belonging to same gender .

  Physical problems

               Some conditions like hearing abnormalities and speech abnormalities ,make the communication process difficult.

Role of mass media in public health

  • Mass media is extremely important for sending required information to rural areas .
  • Mass media is extremely important when there is epidemic .
  • Mass media helps in health promotion.
  • The cost of mass media is less but the advantages are large.
  • Mass Media helps the health care providers in delivering health education .
  • Mass media is extremely important in helping in research purposes.
  • Mass media plays important role during disasters that occur in specific geographical area.
