To find the distance between the epicenter of the earthquake and the seismograph, we first measure the time difference between the (initial ) p-wave and the (second) s-wave. seismic disturbances travel through the earth's crust at speeds ranging from 2-8 km /s, with greater speeds further down. For most calculations, this is approximated as 8 km/s. Now, we multiply the time delay by the approximated velocity to find the distance of the epicenter from the seismograph.

Here, Delay between p & s-waves: t= 1350- 750 s(approx.)

t= 600s

v= 8km/s

=> d= 4800 km
