During the month of November, the heating system in your apartment appeared to be broken. To prove this, you record the following daily high temperatures in degrees Fahrenhet, taken every other day EE Click the icon to view the data table. (a) Calculate the mean and median of the data. More Info The mean of the datls (ype a whole number-) V(Type a whole number.) The median of the data is Џ | . (Type a whole number) (b) Draw the associated histogram: plot temperature on the abscissa and days on the ordinate. (c) When you take your complaint to the apartment manager, he fails to see the problem; aocording to his heating bill, your apartment had an average temperature of 72 degrees Fahrenheit Show both the mean and the median on the graph drawn for par (b). Which is a better presentation of the data, part (a) or par b)? Justify. 0 A. O B. O C. Part (b) gives better presentation or the data because it indicates the values or the mean and the median. Part (a) gives better presentation of the data because it indicates the values of the mean and the median. Part (b) glves better presentation of the data because it indicates the shape of the distribution. Part (a) gives better presentation of the data because it indicates the shape of the distribution. D.

Answer #1

a)the mean of the given data is (sum of all data) / (no. of observations)

that is (1114)/16 =69.625

rounding off to whole number we get mean = 70

median is39 ue hove SD 59 S9160 801 g, gig g4g4 90 9192 16 median = 2 2

b) the no of bins is squareroot(no. of observations)

that is sqrt(16) = 4

therefore the no. of bins is 4

graph:-

from the given observations

in the problem of finding medians there are 8 numbers less than 61. in other words from 50-61 there are 8 observations.

the graph that satisfies this condition is last graph(histogram)

so the correct histogram is D

c) Answer is (B)

(B)- part(a) gives the better presentation of the data because it indicates the values of mean and the median
