In the 1950s, only a handful of teams played in municipal stadiums. Now, very few do not. Why?

Previously playing in a municipal stadium means the standard of players were considered very less. Municipal stadiums are owned and run by the government. So there will be very less or no membership fee. In the 1950s only very fewer people give importance to sports and those who gave importance are mostly from elite and rich families. They used only private stadiums. The condition of municipal stadiums was also very poor.

But now, governments spend a substantial amount of their GDP on improving sports. So they are spending more on the construction of new stadiums and maintenance of existing ones. All the facilities required for the teams are provided there like water, restroom, neat play area, coaches, etc. People are becoming more health conscious. They do think that they can take sports as their career too. People from poor families can't afford to use private stadiums. So they are using municipal stadiums.
