Answer #1

Flexible work arrangements use power or technology and use organizations flexibility to devise a work structure which enables employees to work from anywhere. flexible work arrangements have implications on control (Authority relationships), norms for accomplishments, decision-making and communications.

When arrangements such as telecommuting, employees work from home but are linked to the workplace by a computer. The major issues in managing this arrangement are:
1.) The lack of control on how the employee is using his time on and off the computer.
2.) Fostering mutual trust in a relationship with employees who are not physically present.
3.) Measuring output. Managers need devise a mean to measure the days output.
4.) Assessing quality and performance.
5.) Inoculating a sense of belonging.

Make sure there is no "loafing".
