The future holds for mainframes and supercomputers are given with the following points:-
Mainframes:-
1. It operates in uninterrupted form.
2. It runs many different kind of operating system like linux and multiple programs simultaneously.
3. It supports legacy and new software.
4. It is useful to handle the multiple user at a time.
5. It is used to measure the performance in millions of instructions per second(MIPS)
6. It performs task on large amount of external data.
7. It is flexible enough to run many kinds of applications and business tasks.
Supercomputers:-
1. It is widely used to execute a few programs or instructions.
2. It is focused on speed and acceleated performance.
3. It can run a variant of linux as their operating system.
4. It is like a cluster or grid of small computers working together on the problem which tends to solve.
5. It can be measured the performance in floating point operations per second(FLOP).
6. It execute complicated computations using large internal memory.
