Lakeside Hospital takes patient privacy very seriously. The hospital policy states that only healthcare professionals directly involved in patient care should have access to patient data. The hospital has had several incidents in which a patient had an adverse outcome because the nurse who had access was at lunch and the nurse covering did not have all of the information that was required to provide care.

1 The hospital can restrict the data access to
individuals who are related with the patient and
with the physician and the nurse who are looking
into the case. The hospital needs to monitor that
the data is not used or accessed by others for any
other purpose. The hospital has to have strict
norms and guidelines regarding the same so that
there is no violation or breach.

2. l would recommend that confidential data should
he protected and kept confidential and it should be
shared to individuals who actually require such
information regarding the patient and the source of
the information should be a common location.

authorized individuals only in order to avoid data
breach
