Cardiovascular disease means disease related to heart and blood vessels. Myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, stroke, peripheral artery disease and congenital abnormalities of heart are examples of common cardiovascular diseases.

The fact is about 90% of cardiovascular diseases are preventable. The only thing is lifestyle modification.

The nonmodifiable risk factor of cardiovascular diseases.

1. Age (Increasing age increases risk of CVD)

2. Sex (Disease is higher in men)

3. Family History (Genetics plays role in CVD)

4. Diabetes and Hypertension

Modifiable risk factors of cardiovascular diseases.

1. Sedentary lifestyle

2. Smoking and tobacco use

3. Excess intake of saturated and transfat

4. Obesity

5. Excessive Stress
