What are your thoughts and/or concerns about supplements? Do you take supplements? If you do take supplements, do you think you can get those nutrients through foods instead? Why and how, or why not? Has this video changed your mind about the use of supplements or will it make you change any of your habits regarding your supplement use? Why? Are supplements beneficial for most people or just certain people? Who (if anyone) should be taking supplements?

Supplements can cause severe side effects which can harm the body.For example,if a patient on chemotherapy takes vitamin C and E supplements,it can decrease the effectiveness of therapy.Cases of liver injury are being reported as a side effect of taking supplements.There is also a chance of getting exceeding amount of supplements to the body than required which is also a concern.Example,increased amount of iron causes nausea,vomiting and liver damage.

No,i don't take supplements.Yes,all the nutrients can be taken from food ,provided it should be a healthy and well balanced diet which include fruits,vegetables,whole grains,low-fat diary products,lean proteins,nuts and seeds.Supplements cannot replace a balanced diet's role in the body.

Supplements are vitamins.minerals.herbals,enzymes etc which are available in tablets,capsules and powders and drinks.These are beneficial for certain people who have inadequate amounts of vitamins and minerals in their body,which eventually lead them to some health problems.For example,Calcium and vitamin D supplements can be taken for strong bones,vitamin A for vision problems,and iron,folic acid during the trimesters of pregnancy.

  • Pregnant women
  • Malnourished children under age 5
  • Breast feeding women
  • Vegetarians
  • Those who cover their body wholly.
