(a) Cardiac arrest:- it is the abrupt loss of heart function in a person who may or may not have been diagnosed with heart disease.

(b) larynx:- it is also called the voice box.
- It is situated above the trachea in the neck and in front of oesophagus.

(c) Xiphoid process:- it is the cartilaginous section at the lower end of the sternum, which is not attached to any ribs.

(d) Chest compression:- technique used during cardiopulmonary resuscitation or for the treatment of choking.

(e) Defibrillation:- stopping of fibrillation of the heart by administering a controlled electric shock, to allow restoration of the normal rhythm.

(f) Ventricular fibrillation:- a life-threatening heart rhythm that results in a rapid, inadequate heartbeat.
