Answer #1

Effect of Methanol for Cationic surfactant

Methanol effect critical Micelle concentration (CMC) At lower liquid phase concentrations.

Methanol is probably adsorbed mainly in outer portion of of Micelle close to water - micelle interface thereby decreasing the work required for micellization by decreasing mutual repulsion of ionic heads in micelle .

EFFECT OF METHANOL ON Non- ionic surfactant.

The overall CMC-increasing effect is interpreted as being mainly due to the fact that methanol and ethanol weaken the hydrophobic bond.

Effect of NaCl on Both cationic and Non ionic surfactants

Decrease in CMC FOR Cationic Surfactant due to decrease in thickness of ionic atmosphere surrounding the ionic head group in presence of electrolyte NaCl and consequent decrease repulsion between them in Micelle .

For Non ionic No effect of adding NaCl.
