Please explain
On observing graph, one can infer that for distillation using column there are two different volumes obtained separated by sharp change in temperature so here two different liquids are obtained at two different temperature approximately at 68° C and 105° C while distillation without proceeds with no sharp change at even at different temperature two liquids are obtained simultaneously indicated by roughly linear graph.
In conclusion distillation using column gave better separation.
Packed columns give better separation then unpacked columns because in a packed columns spaces are very tiny and provides enough surface area for the component for retention on the column and also it will not allow the vapours of component having higher boiling temperature to escape when one at lower is getting boiled. While unpacked columns provide large voids from which vapors may escape and hinder the better separation of components.
