In this process NAD+ is used as the oxidising agent. During the removal of carbondi oxide, by giving up the energy, NAD+ is transformed into its higher energy as NADH..

Explanation : Activation of gluconeogenesis by glucagon is carried out in the way of diminishing the disposal rate of phopshoenolpyruvate by pyruvate kinase.Through cyclic AMP(cAMP) and protein kinase which depends on the cAMP, Glucagon strengthen the phosphorylation of pyruvate kinase, phosphofructokinase and fructose-1,6-biphosphatase. Glucose synthesis enhancement, decreased recycling of phosphoenolpyruvate to pyruvate and enzyme inhibition are the effects of Phosphorylation of pyruvate kinase.
