Purposes of HIT implementation:
• To improve the healthcare quality
• To increase the productivity of the health care services
• To prevent medical errors thus increasing the health care
accuracy
• To increase the effectiveness of health care administrators
• To decrease the paperwork and the time spent
• To promote communications between the health care
professionals
• To expand the access to affordable care.
It is a shared responsibility of the stakeholders for the HIT
implementation. The stakeholders are vendors, health care
providers, health care organizations, health IT department, public
and private agencies. It is useful to maintain the security, safety
of the patient and to avoid errors.
The physicians should be included in the implementation process
because it helps to develop a positive attitude towards adopting
and using the technology. It also has an impact physician
satisfaction and system success. They are a potential source of
data and ideas.
