Please don't copy and paste and need reference

Is firing a nurse or another healthcare professional who commits an inadvertent human error the wrong approach to address medical errors made in healthcare? Why? What should be done? Put yourself in the place of a patient. Do you still agree with this approach? Why or Why not?

Discuss physician contributions to patient safety. Are they doing enough? Do their efforts make you feel safer as a patient or patient's family member? Why?

Medical errors are always preventable by following regulations and systems and also training. Human errors are possible but in healthcare industry errors may lead to more detrimental irreversible consequences even death. Health care professionals are always known for their life saving aniikkjd supporting skills . Even though they have necessary education and training , sometimes errors happen . Sometimes errors are due to negligence and most times occur unintentionally.

When a healthcare professional was responsible for an error, the hospital should provide them support and analyse how to resolve the error. Adequate psychological support is also necessary. A stress free therapeutic environment with adequate health care staffs are essential to stop errors . A person may be feeling guilty, feared, anxious after creating an error and also they may be affected by post traumatic stress. There have been examples of victims who were fired from their jobs because of committing accidental errors . They have committed suicide or affected with psychological problems . So firing a nurse or healthcare professional from their jobs after committing any accidental errors is not a good approach. Rather they can be provided with adequate support, training , and counselling. Evidence based practice, allocation of resources, adequate work force , quality policy and standards for patient care are to be enforced .

From the view of patient , the nurse or healthcare professional may be viewed as a criminal because for a patient the lossess are personal and may affect them psychologically or physiologically and nearly death too. But keeping in mind about the future of the concerned healthcare facility or employee the patient may practice the principle of fidelity( trust and loyalty) which may help the healthcare workers to report the errors and avoidance of future errors.

A risk reporting system should be available in every healthcare facility so that nurse or other healthcare workers report the errors . A root cause analysis of those errors are made and the cause of the errors can be found out to prevent it from occurring in future. I donot agree that a healthcare professional should be fired from job. Firing, or giving punishment or lack of managerial support may push a healthcare worker to fear the consequences, stigma , loss of reputation which may make them to stop reporting the errors . This may be a serious issue . Onve when errors are reported , safety measures can be found out to resolve those errors.

A doctor also a healthcare worker work towards patient safety and quality care. A physician always practice beneficence and non maleficence same like nurses. To err is human. Full concentration and practice , training are essential to treat a patient with quality care.
