Bdellovibrio bacteriouorus species are extremely small, highly motile, Gram-negative, soil inhabiting bacteria that attack and replicate in other Gram-negative bacteria.

Bdellovibrio divides to replicate and then leaves via a final lysis of the host's cell wall and membranes same as in lytic cycle where cell lysis releases viral progeny.
