A DAY WITH A CLIENT

On the Fifteen of this month, I met Mr. JOHN SULLIVAN a 35-year-old black (Afro –Americcan) male in the MMW (male medicine ward). He is working at a health care technology firm as a BDM (Business Development Manager) for the past ten years since he finished his MBA and graduated from Marian Business School, NY. His job description at HelathTech Positive solutions involves meeting and interacting with major stakeholders in the health care delivery system, and push the sales of cloud backed Electronic Medical Records Software Package of the company. HealthTechPositive solutions is a major player in the country in the hospital software industry with more than 100 healthcare organizations as their clients.

Mr. John is a workaholic and passionate about his job. When I asked him why did he choose to become a Business Development Manager at a healthcare technology firm, he told me that his current job involves a lot of traveling and negotiations . He continued that he always loved to travel and closing sales deals for his company make him very proud and happy. After finishing high school Mr. Sullivan joined and finished a Bachelors’ program in Business Administration at Marian Business School where he was offered an MBA admission later as he was a very bright student.

Most of the Mr Sullivans’ clients are secondary or tertiary level health care providers. Nearly all of them are having 100-200 beds and 500 -700 daily OPD visits with the exception of one clients which is a tertiary level teaching research hospital with a bed strength of 1200 inpatient capacity. He proposes that US health care system should embrace digital cloud-based patient care technologies with whole heart as he feels some hospitals are still paper-based and prone to prescription errors and related complications.

During our conversation he never complained anything particular about his job, and , when I asked what change he would like to make to his job, he told that sometimes he is required to visit clients on Sundays and this is causing some problems in his family life and understandably he would like to change these meetings on Sundays .

  He strongly recommended that anyone who would like to work in the health care industry form now onwards must have some expertise in using EMR solutions   as he believes the future of healthcare is closely tied with the Internet Of Things.
