Nurses spend most of their time with patients and experiences health care limits at first hand. This pts them best about to speak about their patients concerns and safety. Nurses advocate the patient in their health care needs plan and decision making in both physiological and psychological needs and problems. This may just include calling a physician for prior appointment.

The nursing advocacy includes the speaking up for the patients to make them receive the best holistic invidividualised care.

The nurses role in patient advocacy:

* gaining knowledge regarding current health and practice issues

* helping them make informed decisions

* help them navigate the complex medical system by translating and making them understand

* standing for patient and making the voice of patient heard on her or his behalf.

The situation I was involved was a 56year old single women who needed medicare insurance advice the patient advocate which was done was:

*got her medical history and coordinated

* contacted several insurance company about supplemental medical health insurance plans

* arranged the conference calls and made them speak to know the best met the patients needs.

The accomplishment was patient was able to meet the best available insurance plan. If the advocate would have not been there than the patient would have not been able to achieve the best care able to do.
