Solution:

Part A)

Vo = Vmax [S] / Km + [S]

1/4 Vmax = Vmax [S] / Km + [S]

0.25 = [S] / Km + [S]

Multiply by 4, we get,

1 = 4 [S] / Km + [S]

4 [S] = Km + [S]

3 [S] = Km

[S] = Km / 3 = 0.33 Km

[S] = 0.33 x 0.0050 M

[S] = 1.7 x 10^-3 M

Part B)

Vo/Vmax = [S] / (Km + [S] )

Substituting [S] = 1/2 Km = 0.5 Km

Vo/Vmax = Km / ( Km + 0.5 Km) = Km / 1.5 Km

Thus,

Vo/Vmax = Km / 1.5 Km = 0.33
