Lesson 2: Managed Care Delivery Systems

Upon completion of the Required Readings, write a thorough, well-planned narrative answer to the following discussion question. Rely on your Required Readings and the Lecture and Research Update for specific information to answer the discussion question, but turn to your original thoughts when asked to apply, evaluate, analyze, or synthesize the information.  Your Discussion Question response should be both grammatically and mechanically correct, and formatted in the same fashion as the question itself. If there is a Part A, your response should identify a Part A, etc.  In addition, you must appropriately cite all resources used in your responses and document in a bibliography using APA style.

Discussion Question 1 (30 points)

Discussion Question #1 is comprised of two parts. One of the most daunting questions in health care today is whether or not managed care is working. (30 points) (A 2-page response is required for the combination of Parts A and B).

Part A	Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of managed care (i.e., in what areas it is working and in what areas it is not working) (15 points)
Part B	Explain upon what factors you base your opinion. (15 points)

Answer : health care is today managed working care.

Part A) answer :

Managed care : managed care is defined as it is a group of activities in order to reduce the cost of care and provide quality and comprehensive care.

Strengths of managed care :

1. It can provide the health care services at low cost who are having insurance facilities and it will provide discounts.

2. It will provide the facility like seeking the health care by clients at there network it self.

3. It will provide rapid health care facilities like if a primary care provider refer a client to the cosultents, the clients information may may spread rapidly to them and early care can receive by clients.

4. This managed care system have family and trusty relationship ship, so that they will provide adequate care and entire family care.

5. It will provide at least minimum garentee care.

6. Easier treatment providing skills.

These are the strengths of managed care.

Weakness :

1. There will be a little care services access those who are not having insurance facilities.

2. The rules are very strict in these managed care.

3. It provides low cost care, but it is time taking process.

4. Some times unreasonable services may offered by physicians.

5. There will be a loss of privacy.

6. Due to busy network it is a late process.

These are the strengths and weaknesses of managed care.

Part B) answer :

* by providing timely care and needed care these weaknesses may reduces.

* these managed care need some times flexibility of care.

* the physicians can advise necessary procedures and tests, only.

* it may benefit for clients and policies also.

* here some privacy policy need to maintain.

* appropriate human recruitments they can provide early care.

* new purchase policies can increases the working well of these managed care system.
