Answer #1

ANSWER

*Categorization of characterstics of class I MHC and class II MHC.

CLASS I MHC MOLECULE        CLASS II MHC MOLECULE.
* Expressed on all nucleated cells. * Expressed on antigen presenting cells (B lymphocytes,monocytes,macrophages,dentritic cells and thymic epitheliem).
* Peptide binding cleft is closed at both ends. * Peptide binding cleft is open at both ends.

* Peptide binding site holds peptides between 8 to 11amino acids long.

* Peptide binding site holds peptides between 13 to 25

   amino acids long.

* Present endogenous antigen to CD8 + T cells. * Present endogenous antigen to CD4 + T cells.
* Has one alpha chain and beta-2 microglobulin. * Has an alpha chain and a beta chain.

    Handout IG2-2 Class I MHC-Peptide Interactions Place the steps of the antigen-processing pathway for endogenous antigen in the correct order Alpha chain of class I MHC binds peptide. Endogenous antigen within cytosol is degraded by proteasome. Peptides are transported into endoplasmic reticulum by TAP Alpha chain of class I MHC binds β2-microglobulin. Peptide-class I MHC is transported to Golgj complex and then to cell surface. Class I MHC peptide binds to CD8+T cell.

    ANSWER ALL THE QUESTIONS FULLY AND CORRECTLY!!! 1) A patient has inherited two defective genes for TAP2 (remember the case study from before) Which of the following are true? (circle all that apply): - The patient will have a scarcity of CD4+ T helper cells -MHC class I molecules will not be expressed to any extent on the patient's cells -MHC class II molecules will be reduced in expression - The patient will have an impaired ability to fight viral...
