1- No my state is not a right-to-work-state. I feel that unions create more harm than good. The reasons why unions exist is that they give jobs to people who “purport” to protect the rights of workers. The only thing that protects the right of a worker is his “right” to seek employment somewhere else if he/she is dissatisfied.
2- Since the mid-1950s, labor unions in the United States have experienced increasing difficulty in attracting new members. Although millions of US workers still belong to labor unions, union membership as a percentage of the total labor workforce has continued to decline at a steady state. For example, in 1977, more than 26 percent of US wage and salary employees belonged to labor unions. Today, that figure is about 12.4 percent of those workers.
3- A)Strike: occurs when employees walk off their jobs and refuse to work.
B)Picketing: occurs when workers representing the union march at the entrance to the employer’s facility with signs explaining their reasoning for striking.
C)Boycott: occurs when union members agree not to buy the products of a targeted employee.
D)Slowdowns: occurs when workers perform their jobs at a much slower pace than normal
E)Wildcat strike: occurs when workers suddenly go on a strike, without authorization (presumably) of the striker’s union and while a binding labor agreement is still in effect.
