Classification: Sucruslphate is classified as antiulcer drug.

Drug Action:It acts as ulcer protective.It is consist of octasulphate of sucrosewith aluminium hydroxide.

It inhibit the hydrolysis of mucosal proteins by pepsin, and thus protects the mucosal lining from the lesions or the damage.

Use: widely used in the treatment duodenal ulcer.

Administration/Usual dose of sucrulphate is 1 gm four times daily, orally.

Oral Suspension 1 g/10 mL

Side effects & adverse reactions: constipation, back pain & upset stomach.

Contraindications: It is contraindicated in pregnancy, in case of renal impaired patient and breastfeeding conditions.

Other pertinent information: the dose selection in the elderly patients should be with high precaution
