1. One specific Harmonal medication :

Thyroid - Westhroid ( Dessicated Thyroid )

Class: Thyroid USP tablets

Action :It increase the level of thyroid hormone .

Uses :

  • It is used to add thyroid hormone to the body
  • It is used to treat or prevent an enlarged thyroid
  • It is used to manage thyroid cancer

Side effects :

  • Changes in appetite
  • Changes in menstrual periods
  • Chest pain
  • Hand tremors
  • Irritability

Adverse reactions:

  • Necrosis

Contraindications:

  • Uncorrected adrenal cortex
  • Uncorrected adrenal insufficiency
  • Untreated thyrotoxicosis
  • Aparent hypersensitivity

Toxicity:

Over toxicity leads to acromegaly

Administration :

administered through oral route

2.Cardiac medication :

Heparin

Class: Heparin injection

Dose:

10000 units/mL

Action:

Heparin inhibits reactions that lead to the clotting of the blood and the formation of the fibrin clots in victor and in viva

Uses

  1. It is used to treat blood clots
  2. Reduce risk of blood clots

Indications:

  • Venous thrombosis
  • Pulmonaryembolism
  • Prevent embolism

Contraindications

  • Abdominal pain
  • Back pain
  • Blood in urine
  • Constipation
  • Coughing in blood
  • Headaches

Toxicity:

Lethal dose is greater than 5000 mg/kg.

Adverse reactions:

  • Conjuctivitis
  • Cyanosis
  • Anaphylactic shock

Administration :

Administered over Subcutaneous route .

3.Pantaprazole

Class:

PANtaprazole

Action :

The mechanism of action of pantoprazole is to inhibit the final step in gastric acid production .Proton pump inhibitors .

Uses:

Used to treat ulcer varieties and Gastro -oesophageal reflux.

Indication :

Reflux oesophagitis

Stomach ulcer

Duodenal ulcer

Zollinger -Ellison syndrome

Contraindication :

Cardiac patients

Side effects :

  • Headache
  • Constipation
  • Diarhea
  • Stomach pain
  • Feeling of sick

Toxicity:

Overdose above 1gm

Administration :

Through oral route as well as Intravenously .
