The lawsuit seeking a class action against Apple Inc. Plaintiff Amanda Friekin had made a complain to the court that employees treatment at retail stores of Apple Inc.
The searches being conducted while going out of the store was felt as demeaning by employees and they complained that managers treat them as thief.
Actually searches were part of security protocol in order to avoid the any sort of shrinkage. but employees undergoing such security searches of their bags every time they were leaving was not taken as a good measure by employees and for the time being spent on this, employees also demanded for compensation, however there was a such judgement in favor of Amazon in similar compensation being asked in lieu of time spend in searches where court did not considered it as part of work and refused to quality the same for compensation.
However there were complain to CEO of APPLE too for this matter but in court filing it not not mentioned or detailed, Response from HR of Apple was to have a intelligent and respectful approach for this and searches should not look like disrespectful and demeaning to employees.
However in my view such inspection should not be treated as demeaning activity as there are many process in even manufacturing units and other retail store where this type of searches are part of standard security protocol.
