Describe the relationship between the survivorship schedule and survival probability.
Survivorship curves/ Surviorship Schedule/ Survivorship graph shows the number or fraction of a population that survives from one age to the next.
There are three types of Survivorship schedule which will represent the survival probability.
1. Convex curves: These are characterized by high age-specific survival probability in early and middle life, followed by a rapid decline in survival in later old age life. Example mammals.
2. Diagonal curves: These are the curves in which constant mortality rate/survival probability is experienced regardless of age. Example Lizards.
3. Concave curves: Thesehave the greatest mortality at earlier stage in life, with relatively low rates of death at later stage of life for those surviving this bottleneck effect.
Describe the relationship between the survivorship schedule and survival probability.
4. In this question, you will examine the relationship between survival and gender. (a) Obtain the contingency table of survival by gender. Make sure that Row percent, Column percent, and Chi-Square options are checked in each contingency table dialog box. Paste the table into your report. Using a = 0.01, test that there was no relationship between survival and gender. State the null and alternative hypotheses. Report the value of the appropriate test statistic, the distribution of the test statistic...
The following results show the relationship between smoking in mothers and the survival of newborns past their first year. Use the bino- mial test to determine if the proportion of newborns that died in the first year is lower in nonsmokers than smokers Nonsmoker smoker died in 1st year 28 7 alive at 1 year 5606 583
